Shifter 6 The New Breed Jaden Sinclair Kane is a one of a kind shifter. He's more animal than man. Tortured all his life, beaten and experimented on. He has very little tolerance for anyone, except for his twin sister. Jada Leonard is a woman who never followed anyone's rules but her own, but those rules change when she is caught spying and taking information. To save her life she is forced into hiding and forced to follow rules. Like a match to gas, these two ignite a fire of passion. Both are strong willed and both refuse to bend. Will Kane give in to his instincts and take what belongs to him? Or will Jada be the one to make the new breed bow down, showing him that he's more than just an animal inside?

AT LAST!!!!!! A heroine that does not-buckle-under her lust for the hero. The heroine in this book is strong-willed (like the one in Dedrick's Taming) but unlike Jaclyn, she does not allow herself to be ruled by her desire for the hero. In "Dedrick's Taming", the heroine throws herself at the hero, abandoning all personal pride, and the hero is very dismissive of her, other than in bed, he humiliates her and treats her shabbily, not my idea of a romantic story (from the point of view of the woman). In the "New Breed" (unlike the other story) it is the hero who does the persuing of the heroine (LOVED THAT). He is just as dominant as Dedrick is, but instead of been cruel to her, he is just right down determined to win the heroine's affection not matter what. (over the moon about that).

As for the heroine, I LOVED HER. I don't get the negative reviews about her. She uses her nasty retorts and comebacks as away of dealing with the powerful and/or very phsically-strong men who wanted to control her. Her verbal reportaire were her only weapons, and she did not hesitate to use them. As for how she behaved with the hero, I thought she was RIGHT ON!!!!!!! Lets see, she is basically kidnapped, forced to stay at an isolated place against her will, and the person who is in charged of keeping an eye on her, is a peeping tom (but only as far as she is concerned), forces his lust on her, snoops among her personal stuff, and then she is supposed to be nicer to him, because he had a horrific life (which he did), but that in no way was her fault. I think her responses to him were not only appropriate, but refreshingly wonderful. Almost all heroines in this genre lose all perspective, and completely allow the hero every liberty the minute he touches them. This heroine sticks to her gun, even when he is imposing his carnal will on her, even when she is turn-on by him, she still fights him and her own needs. And when she finally is overwhemend by his advances and her desires and "enjoys" herself, afterwards (instead of being starry-eyed over the incident, and shortly after falling-in-love) she is angry with him for the foced seduction and with herself for eventually enjoying it. This is such a great heroine that does not fall in love at a drop of a hat, and that has the gumption to fight (even though she never really wins) the hero's lust as well as hers. And keep in mind that she is not a Shifter, nor does she want to be. How else was she supposed to behaved?

EXAMPLE AND SPOILER ALERT: The first time the hero forces a kiss on her, and even though she is liking it very much, she none the less kicks him you know where. END OF SPOILER ALLERT!!!!! For me this an awesome book, more authors should have heroines like Jada. After all not all readers (like myself) enjoy a wimpy heroine when it comes to the hero, especially when she is supposed to be "feisty". And finally I was very happy to see that love scenes were also done from the hero's point of view. Often this is not case, even when the story is from both points of views, we only get the heroine's side when it comes to love scenes. But not in "The New Breed", FANTASTIC!

The New Breed Jaden Sinclair 9781612350325 Books Reviews

I would strongly recommend, reading the books of this series, in order, starting with Stephan's mark. The New Breed is the sixth book in the Shifter series. It picks up where Cole's Awakening(book 5) left off. The main character of this book is Kane. He'd been treated very badly for most of his life and is just starting to get used to being cared for. Kane finds his mate in a very stubborn, mouthy, and reluctant Jada.

For much of the book, the lovebirds are the focus. Both Kane and Jada have issues that need to be worked out. Jada also has a lot of emotional baggage and is keeping secrets. These two spend most of the time verbally sparring.

Jada sneaks away one night in a misguided attempt to keep Kane safe. She gets captured by the bad guys. Kane and the men go to rescue her and the story goes forward from there. I don't want to say any more and spoil things for anyone!

It was not my favorite book of the series. Overall, I liked it though. If you like the other books in the series, you'll like this one too.

A word of caution this book has strong sexual content.
I cannot recommend this book. While I appreciate a strong heroine, in this book the heroine just seemed mean. The hero had been enslaved and tortured since he was a child, and had done everything he could to protect his sister who was also enslaved. The heroine, even though she knew of his enslavement and torture, taunted him with what had happened to him. Again a strong heroine is a plus in any book, but compassion along with strength makes for a much better read. Unfortunately, I found the heroine's words to be very distasteful and did not enjoy this book.
I don't want to down the series, which I really like, but, like the other review I didn't like the lead women's role, Jada. She has a smart mouth, which is fine, but it is taken to extremes. Also her constant running away got tiresome. Again, a fan and definitely recommend these books, just be warned that this one is a little tough to get through.
I recommend the Shifter series it is an amazing series but this book was my least favorite out of all of them. For 3 or more books I have fallen for Kane and his sister and waited for the moment they would be free and find their mates. I was so disappointed to see how Jada treated him. I understand the whole heroin being strong thing but Jada was too extreme and sometimes it made me not like her at all. Kane was abused his whole life and I think I would not have made her (Jada) seem so abusive at times. If I rated the series as a whole it would be 4.5 but this book could have been better.
